Great to find this blog. Shocked .. simply shocked .. to find a connection between Lamont Cranston and WHFS. I saw Pat Hayes & Co. numerous times in Mad Town and have a decent collection ... would love to hear an early version of E-Jam with flute!!

Then moved to DC and yes, WHFS kept me sane. Still have loads of stuff Susan Desmaris turned me on to. Always thought she was the most eclectic DJ they ever had.

Keep it rolling!

Pieter,
Thanks for some awesome feedback!
WHFS was the sh!t...without the internet, how did those DJ's have such a wonderful knowledge of music?

One of the original members of Lamont Cranston, Joe Chandler, passed away recently. A wonderful musician, world traveler and all around great guy, I'm sure he's making sweet music right now! Joe Wally, you'll be forever missed! RIP, Joe.....

i've got the vinyl of the LCB disc with a song called 2 trains running that's just unreal.
the album may actually be called by that song title...but i saw them 2-3 times here in chicago and the were fantastic.
geez i wish i'd get around to digitalizing some of the records and c-90s i've got.
it's tough with a 5 year old underfoot.
the last time i saw LCB (at the old wise fool's pub, an absolute favorite) pat hayes played slide guitar for probably half the night easily, on some little 3/4-size guitar and just tore my ears off.
he was clearly 'on' that night...

What This Is All About

I've been collecting live music from various sources since the mid to late 70's. Radio shows, TV broadcasts, radio show pre-FM CD's and vinyl LP's and some trades. Most of the shows posted here, I recorded and ripped myself. I always had top of the line stereo equipment and cassette and open reel recorders for those on air broadcasts.

I've downloaded plenty of bootlegged concerts from various blogs. As a rule I will only post stuff from my collection and not what is already available out there.

I also post out of print CDs and LPs from my collection.
I will repost from my readers anything someone sends me as long as it is either out of print or something that's not from someone else's blog. If you want to share a link for a cool item on your blog, or someone else's, please feel free to post it in the comments........

Enjoy and please leave a comment and pass this blog along.

Can you believe that so many out there are starving for the old WHFS? Amazing!

If you leave a comment, how about using a nickname instead of Anonymous. At least make up something please. Thanks!

I have reconsidered my position...and will re-upload dead links, so long as you go to that particular post and make the request from the comments page...
