CPR Live On E-Town

CPR: Crosby, Pevar & Raymond

CPR is a five-piece rock band established in 1997. David Crosby, Jeff Pevar and James Raymond are the namesakes of CPR. The trio has an amazing collective musical history. David Crosby is a legend having created or been a part of some of the most memorable music from the 60's and 70's. Jeff Pevar is a versatile guitarist well versed in rock, jazz and the blues. He has played on numerous projects and has worked with Jackson Browne, Ray Charles, Laura Nyro and James Taylor to name just a few of many. James Raymond is a musical director and well-respected keyboardist who has also worked with a variety of artists. CPR first toured as a band in early 1997.

I taped this from WRNR 103.1 FM Annapolis, MD on the 3rd of March 2000. It starts abruptly, as I probably stumbled on the show and grabbed a blank tape and started taping. As with most of my WRNR tapes it is recorded in mono due to the weakness of the radio station's signal. It's only about 20 minutes, but still sounds good and a real hard to find tid bit from CPR.

I got a kick out of the CPR on "E Town" show you
posted on the blog. I used to record "E Town" back in
the early 2000's and recall hearing that show when it
was broadcast. A public radiostation about 60 miles
from my house carried the show each week and since
their tower was so far away the signal was pretty
weak. I could record it in mono but sometimes the
signal would drift off in mid show. I still have a
bunch of "e town" shows I recorded on cassettes back
then: Susan Tedeshi, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, etc. One
week Taj did a show with his Phantom Blues Band and
their performance absolutely blew away the 'live'
album they released around that same time. Taj kicked
off the "e town" show by doing a stomping version of
the old Otis Redding song "Mr. Pitfull" and then dove
right into the song "think". I'm not sure how many
stations around the country carry the "e town" show
(our local NPR station won't carry it, I asked them),
but it's something more folks should check out.

Hi,
After doing some googling on Joe Ely, I found where you had uploaded some ACL shows of his. I downloaded the wma files and they sound great. I would really like to find a video copy of those two shows either on VHS or DVD, really doesn't matter. I'm a huge fan of his guitar player David Grissom. Do you know where to find a copy? They havent released any of his stuff on the New West material yet.

What This Is All About

I've been collecting live music from various sources since the mid to late 70's. Radio shows, TV broadcasts, radio show pre-FM CD's and vinyl LP's and some trades. Most of the shows posted here, I recorded and ripped myself. I always had top of the line stereo equipment and cassette and open reel recorders for those on air broadcasts.

I've downloaded plenty of bootlegged concerts from various blogs. As a rule I will only post stuff from my collection and not what is already available out there.

I also post out of print CDs and LPs from my collection.
I will repost from my readers anything someone sends me as long as it is either out of print or something that's not from someone else's blog. If you want to share a link for a cool item on your blog, or someone else's, please feel free to post it in the comments........

Enjoy and please leave a comment and pass this blog along.

Can you believe that so many out there are starving for the old WHFS? Amazing!

If you leave a comment, how about using a nickname instead of Anonymous. At least make up something please. Thanks!

I have reconsidered my position...and will re-upload dead links, so long as you go to that particular post and make the request from the comments page...
