WHFS 99.1 Diane 05-17-1985

I was used to hearing Diane in the morning drive time. Pretty cool to hear her do an evening show.
I Loved Diane! She's playin' all the the stuff I like...Anytime I hear a tune from Lone Justice, life is good! (Could do without the Temple City Kazoos though, just sayin')
 Enjoy, and thanks again Robbie!
Don't just download and run, let's here some thanks for Robbie in the comments. Since the recent post of these tapes, there has been as many as 40 or more downloads, so lots of folks out there are tuned in. C'mon! It cost real cash to mail these tapes back fourth!

Stumbled across your site from a link on another site. I enjoyed listening to the Halloween Show. Thanks.

That's cool Joe...I haven't had the chance to hear the Halloween show yet. Guess I should.

I have maybe 5 tapes digitized, including a Christmas show from Bob in the mid-80s (1987?), Janet, Mark, and the end of Bob's last show in 1988, and the start of Tom Terrell's. I also have a single tape of a WPFW comedey show called Corn Between Your Teeth.

The contributions from others are something to be extremely thankful for, and offering to add to the archive of a better time seems a sincere way to show that appreciation.

Foreign Listener K is what I use at WFMU, in part because I do not live in the U.S. WFMU became an Internet freeform replacement following the absolute last night of Janet doing a show - in 1999. Having DJs who love music, and letting them play what they love, is what made WFHS worth listening to, especially until 1983.

A bit of history - the 102.3 WHFS, ca. 1982, did not pay for ratings. The only time I participated in the Arbitron process (at my first girlfriend's house, oddly enough), they did not have WHFS as an option. The reason, according to the person on the phone, is that only stations that pay are actually rated.

Good stuff as always - great FM sound, too - not overprocessed and limited like you hear so frequently today.

Thanks to you, Robbie and others who've shared their WHFS archives. I have a few 1981 era tapes to share if you are interested. --nokesvillejr

What This Is All About

I've been collecting live music from various sources since the mid to late 70's. Radio shows, TV broadcasts, radio show pre-FM CD's and vinyl LP's and some trades. Most of the shows posted here, I recorded and ripped myself. I always had top of the line stereo equipment and cassette and open reel recorders for those on air broadcasts.

I've downloaded plenty of bootlegged concerts from various blogs. As a rule I will only post stuff from my collection and not what is already available out there.

I also post out of print CDs and LPs from my collection.
I will repost from my readers anything someone sends me as long as it is either out of print or something that's not from someone else's blog. If you want to share a link for a cool item on your blog, or someone else's, please feel free to post it in the comments........

Enjoy and please leave a comment and pass this blog along.

Can you believe that so many out there are starving for the old WHFS? Amazing!

If you leave a comment, how about using a nickname instead of Anonymous. At least make up something please. Thanks!

I have reconsidered my position...and will re-upload dead links, so long as you go to that particular post and make the request from the comments page...
