WHFS 102.3, V 01-20-1983, Bob Here, From DaveB

Another day another tape from Dave's collection gets ripped and and added to the blog for all the fellow 'HFS heads to share.
Here's a collection on Side One of standard WHFS type early 80's material. Side Two gets a little more progressive, a lot of it not my cup of tea, but hey, that's just me. Enjoy!

Bow Wow Wow, Malcom McCloud, Blondie, Thompson Twins, Ransom Wilson, Lena Lovitch, David Crosby, Andy Summers & Robert Fripp, Spirit and others...

163MB, MP3@320, 92 Minutes

I know I said it earlier, but it was sooo f'n true with this tape. I would tape many of these LATE at night (ok, EARLY morning) and would listen to them the next day... There would be so many good artists on them that I had never heard of before, or heard of in different contexts, that I started really exploring a LOT of music... I am guessing that the Fripp/Summers is not most people's "bag of tea", but this Fripp album turned me on to Eno, which turned me on to Talking Heads, King Crimson, Alan Holdsworth, Kraftwerk, Gabriel, and Midge Ure -- to name a few... Talk about mind opening/expanding... That is what I really loved about HFS -- They would play Pere Ubu one night, and Mozart the next!!! I recall hearing the entire Side 1 of Dark Side of the Moon on there too one day/evening... Man, those days are LONG gone...

The Ransom Wilson piece was the one that didn't cut it for me. The rest was OK...Just sayin'

Oh yea... that was a bit on the wierd side...

But you gotta love a radio station that played such a WIDE variety of eclectic music...

[sigh]

I just saw your post from earlier this year about the rapidshare link issues. I thought I was doing something wrong! Could you repost this when you have a chance?

I just saw all your WGTB posts. Wow, I'm going to have to check those out, too!

Best,
Suzanne

What This Is All About

I've been collecting live music from various sources since the mid to late 70's. Radio shows, TV broadcasts, radio show pre-FM CD's and vinyl LP's and some trades. Most of the shows posted here, I recorded and ripped myself. I always had top of the line stereo equipment and cassette and open reel recorders for those on air broadcasts.

I've downloaded plenty of bootlegged concerts from various blogs. As a rule I will only post stuff from my collection and not what is already available out there.

I also post out of print CDs and LPs from my collection.
I will repost from my readers anything someone sends me as long as it is either out of print or something that's not from someone else's blog. If you want to share a link for a cool item on your blog, or someone else's, please feel free to post it in the comments........

Enjoy and please leave a comment and pass this blog along.

Can you believe that so many out there are starving for the old WHFS? Amazing!

If you leave a comment, how about using a nickname instead of Anonymous. At least make up something please. Thanks!

I have reconsidered my position...and will re-upload dead links, so long as you go to that particular post and make the request from the comments page...
