WHFS 102.3 DAVID, The Blizzard of Feb 11 1983, Shared by Jim

Our new good buddy Jim sent us another email detailing this WHFS tape from Feb 11 1983 that he shared.
 Here's the text:
Camarillo,

This tape is interesting for the music mix of course, but also for what was going on outside. On Friday, February 11, 1983 the Washington DC area was buried in one of the largest blizzards in recent DC history. According to NOAA: This storm beat the Presidents Day Storm and was the second greatest snowfall of record for the Washington area (at the time). It covered an unusually large portion of Virginia and Maryland with more than a foot of snow. The storm set a new 24 hour snowfall record in Lynchburg, Virginia, with 14.6 inches, Roanoke with 18.6 inches and Baltimore, Maryland with 22.8 inches. Parts of Northern Virginia measured as much as 30 inches on the ground. Washington, DC officially recorded 17 inches at National Airport, but 2 feet of snow fell in surrounding suburbs. Winds gusted over 25 mph all day on February 11 causing drifts up to five feet. The heavy snow and winds paralyzed the region.

Meanwhile, David was on the air at 102.3 FM playing the likes of Simple Minds, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, After the Fire, Elvis Costello, The Jam, The Fixx, Dream Syndicate, Malcolm McLaren, Grace Jones, Icehouse, U2, Talking Heads, Robert Palmer, Blancmange, The Teardrop Explodes, and others.
