hey! good to see you're still here, even doing it in a sl different niche - i was searching for crack the sky and ended up back here. figured i'd see if there were any more current posts. rock and roll cannot stop!
ReplyDeletei sure hope you're well.
this montrose set is on my DVR right now, so i'm waiting to devote some time to sit down w/it.

hey rocdoc...wazzup?
ReplyDeleteI was awol for a while...this is pretty cool...I confess, I left off most of Neal Schon's stuff...I'm just not that big into long instrumentals.
I thought the original band with Joe S. did a very capable job. Especially if you consider, it's like fourty years after the original Montrose album...man we used to skip school and rock out on that one!
oh yeah - space station #5!
ReplyDeleteseeing this tribute showed me that these seemingly basic songs (cos i heard them so many times) are actually packed full of dynamic shifts and other subtleties.
i actually saw them tour this album through chicago, 3rd billed (@ louie sullivan's auditorium theater, like i gave a shit back then about louie sullivan) to spooky tooth w/frampton's camel the headliner - GREAT show with ronnie roaring and sammy's banshee sceraming.
re awol, you HAVE to from time to time...tho i am grateful for the maria mckee cpllection i got from you here! a couple of richard thompsons and some others.
i'm eyeing those good rats shows down there - and you're prob the one who turned me onto them previously!
glad to see you up and about - i'll be around, again.
rocdoc
The Goodrats are the shit for sure!
ReplyDeleteGet 'em...
Yeah...I heard it all a million times myself...didn't listen to 'em for decades...but like you say, there is a lot to like, and with good all around jamming...I put it up with Van Halen's debut LP. Shoulda been a monster hit IMHO! So cool you got the chance to see them live...jealous!
