1986 XXXII WHFS 99.1 Fall of 1986
Long time WHFS listener DaveB of Northern Virginia has been kind enough to send me 50, that's right, fifty 90 minute cassettes from WHFS 102.3 and 99.1. Holy Shit! I can hardly believe we get another 75 hours of WHFS to add to our collections. Please thank Dave big time in the comments section.
I will be labeling each folder with date, if available, and as a request from Dave, to include the Roman Numeral Sequence he listed on the tape.
So without further ado...here's one side of a 90 minute tape to start things out with.
It's a great twangy cowpunk kinda country rockin' set from an unknown to me DJ. Sounds like Radioactivity with a guest DJ, but what do I know...Got to be the 1st time I can recall hearing Lynyrd Skynyrd on WHFS!!!
Again...Please post a huge thanks to DaveB!
Suzanne Vega, Emmy Lou Harris, Lone Justice, The Beat Farmers, Del Fuegos, Tom Cochran and Red Rider, Rodney Crowell, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dream Syndicate, R.E.M., Aretha Franklin, The Kinks

ReplyDeleteHoly cow!! I can hardly believe that we're going to be treated to even more 'HFS airchecks! Many thanks to both of you!
ReplyDeleteCan I bother you for scanned images of the XXXII case label and tapes??? They work well as artwork for the tapes... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Dave B.
I had FORGOTTEN that Studio TAN was on the flip side of XXXII... GOD I LOVE "Gregory Peckory... that gregarious nocturnal wild swine"!!! What an Animal!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the image...
CB -- I can't begin to thank you enough for ripping these... having these on my IPOD is terrific... I can start to play my tapes, and pick up where I left off... and just keep playing... and since it is all HFS, I don't think I hear the same song twice... and in 70+ hours of music, that is IMPRESSIVE... even for HFS...
ReplyDeleteTHANKS AGAIN For doing this... you are the best...
