Tommy Keene: Places That Are Gone- Vinyl EP
Short but sweet!
Tommy Keene
Places That Are Gone
Dolphin DLP-2003, 1984
Keene's first LP (1981's Strange Alliance) gained a lot of press, but not the radio attention of this 1984 12" EP for Dolphin. In addition to the memorable title song (rerecorded later his first major label LP), Keene crafted four more chiming, hook-filled guitar tunes and a wickedly good cover of Alex Chilton's "Hey! Little Child." Keene continued to produce consistently fine records (from 1986's Songs from the Film through 2006's Crashing the Ether), but as with so many artists, this first spark of youthful exuberance marks a special place in his catalog.
