Johnny and the Headhunters are known as a powerful Rock-a-Billy and Blues band. John Tickton, an excellent guitarist and vocalist has lead the band since the early days. Bass player Brian Mcgregor and drummer Brooks Tegler complete the trio's first rate sound . The Headhunters have performed for 20 years in and around the Nation’s Capital, along the whole East Coast as well as popular in the club scene for many years in Manhattan especially at "Manny's Car Wash," a favorite Upper East Side blues hot spot. The band has played many shows with Pete Ragusa, drummer and Grammy nominated producer for the internationally acclaimed Nighthawks. Pete has played on several of Johnny’s personal albums and also produced the Headhunters release titled Watch Yourself. Truckin’ the Blues, the band’s latest release, was produced by Billy Hancock and features Bruce Ewan on harmonica and Joe Stanley and Chris Watling on saxophones. I bought the self titled LP at the Record and Tape Exchange in College Park, MD and the Cassette I bought at one of Johnny's shows at Armadillo's in Annapolis, MD back in 1994 I believe. Just another cool artist from the DC area that plays straight up Roots Rock, Rock-n-Roll.
Both albums were recorded to one CD and then ripped to my hard drive.
