The Nashville Network way back in 1991 had a great weekly show called American Music Shop. All kinds of cool acts would play on this show from Mary Chapin Carpenter to Lucinda Williams, Allison Krauss, Marty Stuart and other great Americana artists.
This tape features Lee Roy Parnell hosting, with guests:
BOBBY GOLDSBORO, GATEMOUTH BROWN, DELBERT MCCLINTON, RAZZY BAILEY, and MARTY BROWN
Shame the series didn't last long...Oh well...

This is a tape of a short lived Saturday Night show called 'Real Rockin' Metal'. I like all kinds of music and kinda wished it lasted more then a couple of weeks. Some hokey 80's Big Hair Bands, but some pretty good rockin' tunes as well.
AC-DC, WARLOCK, LION, DEEP PURPLE, LEATHERWOLF, ALICE COOPER, KICK AXE, WHITE LION, AEROSMITH, SHOK PARIS, RATT, MYSTIC FORCE, SWORD, DOKKEN, WHITESNAKE, PAUL DELANO, UFO

OK...Here is another tape from contributer Bill. All I can tell you is it's from WHFS, probably early to mid 80's.
As with a lot of the other tapes Bill sent me, this TDKD90 tape doesn't even have a single word written on it. And Bill liked to tape the tunes...forget all the DJ chatter, commercials and what not. At the end of the tape is actually a sentence spoken by an unknown (to me) DJ letting us know we just heard a tune from World Party.
Maybe Bill will have a listen and recall when he taped it. It's full of good tunes, not to chopped up, so a pretty sweet listen. Thanks Bill!
Thomas Dolby, Don Dixon, Robert Cray, World Party and whole bunch of stuff that sounds familiar, but I can't identify.

Here is yet another fine WHFS Tape recorded at work on my Sony Boombox.
As before, sound quality is a bit less then steller compared to those tapes I made with my Pioneer CT-F1000 and Akai open reel deck. It isn't total crap though.
Recorded, I believe, in the morning, starting with a few tunes from Meg, then the majority is Damien spinning some great tunes. The last five minutes or so sounds like I filled it with some Ronnie Hawkins. It's a pretty sweet tape!
This one almost didn't get shared. I originally ripped it a couple weeks ago, and when I listened to the rip it sounded like shit. So I deleted the file and tossed the tape in the trash pile. Then, later I was ripping another tape and discovered that one of the channels was dropping out due to some dirty RCA cable connections. Probably TMI, just glad I could get it out there for y'all to check out....Enjoy!
LAMONT CRANSTON BAND, ALBERT LEE, TOMMY KEENE, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD, GRATEFUL DEAD, MARSHALL CRENSHAW, PETER TOSH, THE WINDBREAKERS, THE BULL DOGS, THE NEIGHBORHOODS, ROY BUCHANON, LEVEL 42, ARLEN ROTH, ART OF NOISE, BEATLES, RONNIE HAWKINS

What This Is All About
I've been collecting live music from various sources since the mid to late 70's. Radio shows, TV broadcasts, radio show pre-FM CD's and vinyl LP's and some trades. Most of the shows posted here, I recorded and ripped myself. I always had top of the line stereo equipment and cassette and open reel recorders for those on air broadcasts.
I've downloaded plenty of bootlegged concerts from various blogs. As a rule I will only post stuff from my collection and not what is already available out there.
I also post out of print CDs and LPs from my collection.
I will repost from my readers anything someone sends me as long as it is either out of print or something that's not from someone else's blog. If you want to share a link for a cool item on your blog, or someone else's, please feel free to post it in the comments........
Enjoy and please leave a comment and pass this blog along.
Can you believe that so many out there are starving for the old WHFS? Amazing!
If you leave a comment, how about using a nickname instead of Anonymous. At least make up something please. Thanks!
I have reconsidered my position...and will re-upload dead links, so long as you go to that particular post and make the request from the comments page...
