B.E. Taylor Group, Innermission LP, 1982 Vinyl Rip

A couple of Crack The Sky members, Rick Witkowsksi and Joey D'Amico, play on this album and that is the reason why I just purchased this LP on Amazon.
I never heard of B.E. Taylor, until I Googled him. Apparantly he is very popular around Pittsburg. The album is very much an 80's pop record, with some good guitar playing from Rick Witkowsksi. After my 1st listen, I thought it was pretty good. Not great, put a decent record. After a couple of listens, it may grow on me. Dang thing cost me $10.00 with shipping, so I'll give it a couple of listens before making a real judgement.

1) "Never Hold Back" (4:51)
2) "Stand Up For Love" (3:19)

Billy Idol Malibu Night Club, L.I.N.Y. 04-29-1982

Idol was promoting his first album, just released at the onset of the tour from which this recording was made, when he performed this show to be broadcast by WLIR for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. This show is a tour de force that includes many classic Idol songs now affiliated with his career: including “Hot In the City,” “White Wedding,” “Dancing With Myself” and “Mony Mony.”

Even though this performance was taped early on in their partnership, the magic between Idol and Stevens is clearly a strong one. He and Stevens brought the punk edge to the standard singer/guitar scenario that duos like Jagger/Richards, Bowie/Ronson and Tyler/Perry so carefully crafted; it's a relationship that is still going strong today.

For a relatively new band, the performances from this night are amazingly tight. They excel on the old Gen X song “Kiss Me Deadly,” and rock out hard on several others: including “Dead On Arrival,” “Nobody’s Business,” “It’s So Cruel,” “Ready Steady Go” and “Come On Come On.”

Billy Idol - vocals
Steve Stevens - guitar, vocals
Phil Feit - bass
Greg Gerson - drums
Judi Dozier - keyboards

Brian Setzer Live From "The Knife Feels Like Justice" Tour

Brian Setzer's "The Knife Feels Like Justice" album is a criminally overlooked album. It is not a rockabilly, Straycats type record. More like Bruce or John Mellencamp. But much edgier and rockin'. I would post it but it is still available on Amazon and other places. So I will do the next best thing and offer for your listening pleasure, a live show from the tour to promote his 1st solo album.

This recording, done for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1986, came in conjunction with the tour to promote Setzer’s first solo album, The Knife Feels Like Justice. Musically, Setzer wanted to embrace the Americana rock scene, and emerge as a modern-day Springsteen or Mellencamp. It wasn’t meant to be, and despite the fact that Setzer had some great songs (“Maria,” which was featured in this show, was actually co-written with Steve Van Zandt from the E Street Band), radio refused to accept him outside of the Stray Cats persona. Still, Setzer gives a spirited performance here, focusing mostly on material from The Knife Feels Like Justice. “Bobby's Back,” ”Something's Wrong With My Radio,” “Breath of Life,” “Chains Around Your Heart,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and the aforementioned “Maria,” are show highlights. Setzer, does, however, treat fans to a taste of his previous glory days with energized versions of “Stray Cat Strut,” and “Rock This Town.”

Bonnie Raitt VH1 Storytellers

This is another Bonnie show ripped straight to my hard drive from DVR.

One of pop's most politically conscious guitar slingers reminisces about learning the blues lingo during her heady college days in Harvard Square, emphasizing her words with occasional tosses of her long red mane. Raitt also reveals how the title song from her breakthrough album Nick Of Time changed a friend's relationship for the better, and explains the Zimbabwean roots of a song from her latest album, Fundamental. Other highlights include a heart-wrenching take "I Can't Make You Love Me."

01) Give Em Something To Talk About (2:16)
02) Give It Up Or Let Me Go (0:59)
03) Give It Up Or Let Me Go (Full Version (6:47)

What This Is All About

I've been collecting live music from various sources since the mid to late 70's. Radio shows, TV broadcasts, radio show pre-FM CD's and vinyl LP's and some trades. Most of the shows posted here, I recorded and ripped myself. I always had top of the line stereo equipment and cassette and open reel recorders for those on air broadcasts.

I've downloaded plenty of bootlegged concerts from various blogs. As a rule I will only post stuff from my collection and not what is already available out there.

I also post out of print CDs and LPs from my collection.
I will repost from my readers anything someone sends me as long as it is either out of print or something that's not from someone else's blog. If you want to share a link for a cool item on your blog, or someone else's, please feel free to post it in the comments........

Enjoy and please leave a comment and pass this blog along.

Can you believe that so many out there are starving for the old WHFS? Amazing!

If you leave a comment, how about using a nickname instead of Anonymous. At least make up something please. Thanks!

I have reconsidered my position...and will re-upload dead links, so long as you go to that particular post and make the request from the comments page...
