I would be interested in downloading some old HFS recordings - I started listening to them in the early 70's and even sat at Weasal's feet a couple times during his overnight show back in the day. All changed my life. Would love to play some for my 29 year old daughter. So if you can activate a couple of links that you particualarily like I would be forever grateful.

Thanks so much

Jay GJay Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14066513153991620008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-15858141593667391602021-07-12T14:56:52.938-04:002021-07-12T14:56:52.938-04:00Hi Camarillo,

I would love to DL some old HFS but seems that the links are no longer valid. I started listening to them in the early 70's and parked at Weasal's feet a few times when he did the old overnight show. It all changed my life (for the better I hope). Anyway, if you could be so kind as to activate a couple of links for me I would be forever grateful. I want to play some for my 29 year old daughter so she "understands." Cheers and thanks.
Jay GroundwaterJay Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14066513153991620008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-23649737183905584422011-09-09T09:05:13.484-04:002011-09-09T09:05:13.484-04:00that was awesome!that was awesome!Camarillo Brillohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08511871933210971708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-86522889066738951352011-09-08T14:27:06.627-04:002011-09-08T14:27:06.627-04:00Here's an amusing YouTube video of "Thank...Here's an amusing YouTube video of "Thank God It's Friday":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW4H35NiqCA&feature=player_detailpageAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-78538809159363639212009-11-22T11:42:21.165-05:002009-11-22T11:42:21.165-05:00On Frantic Friday in the early 80's, Weasel pl...On Frantic Friday in the early 80's, Weasel played a beach song possibly titled Terminal Beach. In addition to the spyware with the toolbar, they also pass load a casino popup. Those popups often have trojan droppers within. I would not be surprised if the popups to which they subject users, in favored countries, also contained spyware.
flyte123Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-60918736587126278662007-11-28T11:31:00.000-05:002007-11-28T11:31:00.000-05:00I would not recommend installing the toolbar BTW. ...I would not recommend installing the toolbar BTW. If you wish, you can confirm the information on Megaupload by googling a few of the key words. Basically, in many countries, when you try to download you get a message that all download slots for your country are occupied. They are always occupied! They give you the alternative to download and install their download software. If you do so, they allow you just one download each 24 hours but only between midnight and 0900 GMT. As the agreement accompanying their software states, your internet connection is then monitored for their purposes. (And you give them permission to do so.)
Forcing users from certain countries to install spyware on their computers is, at the very least, a questionable business practice. Megaupload used to be a very popular site for file storage. However, these policies have offended many users, who have abandoned it in droves. It is now much less common to see Megaupload links.
I certainly understand why you wouldn't want to re-rip your tapes. The way mp3 and wma (lossy compression) work is to chop away at certain frequencies in the spectrum. The 64 bitrate sounds ok for spoken voice (because of the limited range) but permanently eliminates much of the musical content. The greater the compression (the lower the bitrate), the greater the loss, even from home recordings taped from the radio.
My compliments on your blog. You have obviously put a lot of work into it. No offense was intended.
flyte123Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-4365833354228483792007-11-27T22:53:00.000-05:002007-11-27T22:53:00.000-05:00don't know about the spyware issue. Rabidshare is another very common service and I use them for files smaller than 100MB. sorry about the low bitrates, but that's how I ripped them to my hard drive(and in this case how Josh shared them with me)and I'm not going back to the open reels and cassettes anytime soon to re-ripp everything. All this that I have shared was ripped from my personal Tape/LP/CD collection way before I started this blog and decided to share my music collection of 30 years. I use WMA files because they are of the same quality as MP3 at 1/2 the file size. They sound fine to my 49 year old year old ears when playing in the van or my WMA/MP3 players. Most would agree that the bitrates are good enough to enjoy and share recordings that are up to 30 years old. I see feedback on every blog out there complaining about file storage services out there. Most want something for nothing. So if you can't or don't want to use MU then I'm sorry you'll be missing out. Still plenty of music here shared on Rapidshare. Hope you find something else here and thanks for the info from your post.Camarillo Brillohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08511871933210971708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-65320959747222612352007-11-27T19:46:00.000-05:002007-11-27T19:46:00.000-05:00Up to you, but you may want to update the entry in...Up to you, but you may want to update the entry in the blog.

I googled all three of the main members of the group: They are all still active in the DC music scene.
John Harbison hosts open mikes (a shame because he is a very good songwriter, apart from the novelty song), Jack Bond does gigs in the area (also a good songwriter), and Brian Goddard anchors the bass in a local group.
Sadly, I can't enjoy any of your tapes (HFS was my station since I was a college freshman in 1969, when Cerphe was still on board) because you uploaded them to Megaupload, which requires the installation of their spyware in order to download from them from the country where I am residing.
I hope you'll choose another service and higher bitrates for these wonderful recordings.
flyte123Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-34619809378778526152007-11-25T14:57:00.000-05:002007-11-25T14:57:00.000-05:00Thanks for the awesome feeback and the Frantic Fri...Thanks for the awesome feeback and the Frantic Friday comments.Camarillo Brillohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08511871933210971708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-84759151775029242442007-11-24T19:23:00.000-05:002007-11-24T19:23:00.000-05:00Thank you Flyte123I figured it was a local band, s...Thank you Flyte123

I figured it was a local band, since there was no evidence of it in all the normal places.JEBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13795025351852676864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3213408216137068446.post-59046661860877752007-11-24T18:43:00.000-05:002007-11-24T18:43:00.000-05:00By the way, that was "Eat my lunch at Sears" (on W...By the way, that was "Eat my lunch at Sears" (on Wisconsin Avenue). It may have been their only single. Harbison, the writer and lead singer on the song, told me it was really a "joke" of a song. His other songs were really much better.

Their gigs were a great way to spend a Friday or Saturday night. The group split and got back together a few times.
