  3. Marshall Crenshaw is so underated that I'm glad he's mentioned ANYWHERE! I hope there's more rarities coming down the pike from this great songwriter!

  6. Thanx so much for this!!!

This is the different mix and production of 3 songs from Marshall's second album "Field Day."

The word I heard was that Marshall wasn't that crazy about the Lillywhite mix for the album, so he had 3 songs remixed... Add a DOR remix of "For Her Love" and throw in a live "Little Sister," and you've got this rare EP.

This seems to be missing the "For Her Love" remix but does have the extended version.

    Thanx so much!!!

PS: Do you have the other "For Her Love"?

  7. I guess if it isn't included here I don't have it. Sorry leesa...

  8. Hi again... Thanx for the insanely quick response!

I have the old EP, but no way to digitize it... but I thought there were 5 songs on it(?) Am I mistaken?

    Thanx again!

  9. Yep...5 tunes...I didn't include both versions when I recorded this to CD years ago...

  10. I was pretty sure I wasn't completely boopshooby...

So, I guess it's prolly impossible to digi the last toon? (Looks gift horse squarely in her generous eyes...)

Either way... i REALLY appreciate the 4 toons!!!!

    Thanx again!

  11. When I get the motivational call, I'll whip out the vinyl, dust 'er off and rip it some time....look here, I'll post a comment when I do...

  12. Thanx!!!

You did a great job on the 4! They sound sweet!

  13. Not only did I have to dust off the vinyl, but the belt on myturntable was slipping and i had to apply some rubber restorer to get it to smooth out...so her you go leesa...

  14. Wow... I don't even know what "rubber restorer" is...

Is there a purple heart for people who conserve and share the really cool stuff that the record corps et al just can't seem to put out? If not, we need to design one... just for you!

  15. I love the Rhino reissue of Marshall's first album (and the really cool "9 volt years)... so it seems really silly to me that no one compiled this "U.S. Remix" unto the second album (Field Day) to make a "Special Edition."

There may even be more second album out-takes and such that might be cool too.

    Oh well... sigh...

    Thanx again!

  16. Oh yea... one more thing:

I LOVE the picture of all the really cool old TDK Cassettes on your wall rack!!! It's just like all the really neato stuff I got from my brother.

I guess I need to find a way to digitize all the really cool old Cassettes of live Todd, and Hall & Oates and stuff I inherited from my Bro.

I bet all the cool little lights and LEDs on all that equipment look really neato on a dark and rainy night.

    Thanx again!

  17. Oh yea... (lol)... Thanx too for the mp3 rather than the WMA files!

I, personally like m4a files best... I read they are a better compression algorithm... but who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  18. leesa,...yes! neato!
This ol' geezer has been collecting those tapes since 1977...and yeah the lights are groovy baby...
And Marshall...one of my all time fav's...enjoy!

  21. Wow... you actually read what people post on your blog...

So, since you do.... I am looking for any cool Marshall Crenshaw stuff... especially anything that's studio... out-takes and such. I guess he's never been all that popular, but I'm a big fan.

I found these two "unactive" torrents on another site that sounded interesting:

Marshall Crenshaw 1982-xx-xx Pre signing demos

Marshall Crenshaw 1985-xx-xx Downtown Demos (remastered)

    Any ideas?

  22. Sorry leesa...can't help you on those...but if you find 'em please post a link here...

  23. I really hate to look a generous horse in the mouth, but... Don't put the old EP away just yet... hehe...

I think your newest version is the same as the first one you uploaded.

They're in slightly different keys and have about an 18 second total song time... prolly from the difference in Turntable speeds...

    ...or am I just crazy?

    (Blushes apologetically)

  24. Nope...It's definetly the extended version...I'll redo the whole thing tomorrow...

  25. I'm slowing tracking down some Boots of cool unreleased Crenshaw stuff... I have my feelers out... just not many fans of Marshall out there i guess. As soon as I find some, I'll post a link here.

Did you ever do a re-digitize of the U.S. Remix cuts. I don't wanna bug ya... I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it.

It would sure be nice if someone (Wounded Bird?) did a Special Edition of Field Day, like Rhino did for the first album, with these extra remixes.

Thanx again for all your help!!!

  28. Wowza!!! Thanx so much!!!

The last time I checked back I noticed a period "." as the last message... I figured I was bugging you too much about this cool EP... and that you had stopped the thread... obviously the paranoid delusional side to my usually cheerful personality.

Thanx so much for the lossless files!!!

I just got some crappy M4As (120 - at least they were m4a) of Field Day to replace my worn out old Vinyl... and they sound like dirt against these!

    Thanx again!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for the boot Leesa...and enjoy U.S. Remix...Cya

  30. Just wanted to take a moment to say thanks for the Crenshaw effort!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thank you!!! I had lost the EP in a move several years ago. If you like Crenshaw but were disappointed by the mixes in Field Day, you need the FLAC files of the EP posted here.
Megaupload made it easier to download from the country where I am residing and I can finally get the WHFS shows you posted. I can't tell you how important that radio station was to me, from the time I arrived as a college freshman in 1969 until I left the DC area in early 1986. I hope your links last a while but, in any case, many thanks for uploading so much from the radio station that introduced me to so much great music. Maybe it helped set a soundtrack to my life. (Sounds hokey, but you know that it's true.)

  32. flyte,
believe me I know it's true. So cool to provide those old WHFS tapes for you. And thanks for taking the time to show your appreciation...The links will stay up as long as people keep downloading them. I let my Megaupload account expire...so whatever doesn't get a download in 90 days will be gone for good...get 'em while you can

  33. Simply fantastic to hear this EP again - thanks for making it available. A note, however: 'Our Town' (as heard on the FLAC file) has a couple of slight wows at the very top, after which it smooths out and sounds great...

    ReplyDelete
  34. thanks hoover, yeah i think the belt on my turntable is biting the dust

  35. You are too silly. Maybe we could all chip in and buy ya one???

    Hehe...

  36. Many, many thanks for this fabulous Crenshaw rarity, which I didn't even know about.

I just saw Marshall and his band recently at the City Winery here in NYC and though he can't quite sing as high as high as he did on these tracks, he still rocks.

So do you for posting these tracks!

  37. Thanks Moshe! One of my favorite pop singers/songwriters from the 80's

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't thank you enough for this. I wish they would release a remasted Field Day with these songs included. I'm not holding my breath. Saying Marshall was criminally underappreciated is trite at this point, but it's true nonetheless.

  39. "criminally underappreciated"
    Sums it up!
